We need a slogan that mentions H1B's contribution to Social Security. I have not been able to find an article that mentions it. There are lot articles that mention undocumented workers contribution in billions. Just imagine how much we must have contributed and NO ONE mentions it

Would it be a good idea to mention the costs/efforts involved in this visa stamping tours.
Especially, all dependents including infants/kids need to go either to canada or India forcing to loose 3-4 days of vacation.

well this memo is taking it one step further than the last memo -
it is saying that the I-140 must be approved before determining portability. which means most likely if you file for portability and your 140 has not been approved then USCIS will be forced to look at your 140 petition and approve it.
I guess it is the same thing as earlier memo. They are saying that merely 180 days have passed since filing does not provide AC21 benefit. To determine AC21 benefit the petiton must be approved. So based on earlier memo, USCIS would see whther petiton can be approved. If yes then they will evaluate AC21. If not, then you got a problem.

I initially went to FedEx/Kinkos new jersey, paid 50 bucks for myself and wife 6 copies each. Photos were horrible with yellow tinge, though they were of the correct specs. I refused to accept it, but they said if there are any issues they will be glad to help, but I had to pay for their crap.
Then I went to Sears, around 60$ for 6 copies each for myself and wife. The prints were excellent, waterproof and not retouched. They printed it out on immigration specified sheets. Only catch was I had to cut out the photos myself, they are not allowd to cut them.
My photos have a bright background and I do not see that yellowish tinge you are talking about. Again, one cannot brush all kinko's or all walgreens the same I guess. Ofcourse, what is bright is probably again left to the USCIS officer's judgement. Hopefully it will not be an issue. the only thing I noticed was that my photo was taken very close up to adhere to the USCIS requirements. He was zooming in a lot. Is that the same with everyone else too?

I think he would want to see a locksmith to get the damaged "lever" rectified before he sees a doctor lest someone should compromise the lock and break in while he is away to see the doctor.

Hello Everybody
This is my first post. I worked my ass off to get a favorable
solution for retrogression during the budget bill. But as everyone knows it was defeated in the house reconcilation. I'm not being pessimistic but my gut feeling is that eventhough senate comes with something, the chances are slim that the house would agree to it. Sensenbrenners bill which house passed has no provisions for EB immigrants and backlogs. I'm pretty sure all of you are aware of Mr. Tancredo's fury against immigrants too.
Having said that I dont mean we have no way out. We have to work very very hard. We have to raise money and do some hard lobbying. But above all we have to get our employers to back this issue. With all of the above reasons I think it might be a very bad idea to guess we would have any favorable legislation in a shorter span of time. So we have to plan something for a longer period of time and execute it very diligantly, I guess.
I think Immigrationvoice is on the right path... Lets face it people!!!

EB immigrants are not a hot political issue with the House, when the illegals are. Nowhere do the house representatives, except Tancredo and the likes, voiced their opposition to expanding EB immigration and providing some sort of relief for people caught in the backlog. I believe that the immigration provisions were dropped from S.1932 just because it was a wrong bill. The pork got chopped off and this pork was too easy to compromise as there were much more important issues to fight for, like drilling in Alaska and Medicare. This bill IS about immigration issues and is about border security issues as well. The fact that Frist's bill drops the very controversial guest worker program can be considered as both a good and a bad thing. It is good since the bill will sail more smoothly through the Senate and hopefully the conference. On the other hand it is bad since Senate representatives in the conference now will not have this guest worker program to trade and drop when House reps will demand to drop something off the bill. To my understanding the way the conferences work, they need to meet somewhere in the middle in between the versions of the bill and since we have the very minimalistic bill passed by the House it is the Senate which will need to compromise and drop provisions from its bill.
But taking the guest worker program off the bill is a good start I guess.

FBI background check delay is the only reason why visa numbers are wasted every year.
I am not sure either way, however I have heard the FBI comment that they only flag a small fraction of cases. IF that is true, then the USCIS may just be using the FBI as an excuse.

I came here in 2000 through a desi consultant. After landing, he made me a sign a contract that i won't leave him within 1 year or else i need to bear fines ( he didn't tell this while giving offer letter in India ). Then later he kicked me out after 1 year ( because of bad time there weren't much projects ).

You are not the only one. I have been waiting for my GC for 8 years now and it is nowhere in sight! I took the plan B (Canada) and became a PR there (it tookj just over a week, without the need for a job and without me leaving the USA, except to "land" there as the final step). Canada is not as bad as people may think. It looks just like the US, in many cases people are way nicer, multiculturalism is encouraged and enshrined in the Canadian constitution (as opposed to assimilation in the U.S.) and you have free healthcare and free social security for life, whether you are employed or not. Finally Canada has consistently ranked as one of the very top places to live worldwide (ranges from 1-5, it is 3rd this year, with U.S. in like #8) and there is so much to do there. Anyway, for a plan B, Canada is quite honestly pretty damn nice.

I hope once DOS decides to change the spillover and give the extra visas to Eb3 (whoever ROW , India....). The ensuing discussions from from the self glorified EB2 crowd here would make for an entertaining reading. I would like to see how much they enjoy the predictions after that.
