I find it sad that Steve Jobs can't even sit outside in the sun enjoying a cup of coffee and having an intelligent conversation with another very smart man without some idiot intruding on him like paparazzi feeling they must snap pictures. We should all be happy that despite his illness he is doing such outstanding work, and leave him alone.

Now that is a brilliant idea. Earlier this year I took a 26 hour flight(s) to Asia, and I would have LOVED to have been able to take advantage of this.

This is a very bad prescient. The universal binaries are there for a reason, Adobe is not a good Mac developer imo for this reason.
On the other hand, the design professionals won't upgrade to Intel Macs until all of their apps are ported. Once that happens there will be a lot more incentive to switch to Intel, and in the end it will be good for Apple to really solidify the base of Intel-Mac users. I guess this is ripping the band-aid off quick and clean, but it's really not fair to a lot of users.

If you're in a warm room, for instance, you'll have much lower performance, since it requires the differential to work. Of course, maybe the information available isn't wholly accurate, but that's my understanding based on the description.
And therein lies the failure of this idea as a simplifying concept:
When do you need the fan on? When the processor heats up.
Do you want the fan blowing harder or softer when the room is warmer? Harder.
In other words, if I'm sitting out in the cool evening air, I hardly need the fan going at all as the coolness of the air is doing just fine pulling the heat from the CPU. If I'm sitting in 100-degree weather then that fan better be buzzing like a bee to get enough air past the heat sink to effect a suitable heat transfer.
This works in just the opposite: In the cold air, there's a huge differential, so the fan is going full bore, annoying me and all my peace-and-quiet-loving neighbors. In the warm air, it slows to a crawl as the amount of electricity generated approaches the lower limit of sustaining power for the fan. Then it stops. Then my laptop heats up rapidly and the processor dies.
So, you need two additional controls: a bleed for cases when this extra cooling is not necessary, and a backup fan for when it isn't sufficient.
So, we haven't been able to simplify the problem at all, and instead are gaining the (very slight) power savings from not having to run this fan off our battery power (directly) in a mid-temp room. Seems like the R&D and per-unit costs put into this circuitry could be more wisely spent eking a few more milliwatts from the existing circuitry ...

Hate to say it but the website sure makes the company and product to be a bunch of BS... they make a lot of claims with little to back them up.
They may have a real and useful product but... man they could present it in a much better way.

I like the idea you have going here. I would like the saturation more realistic, but that's just me. Different framing and cropping come to mind. Maybe play off the differences in the textures and color, putting them closer and cropping or framing in tight. I may play with this idea when I can. I have nice oranges, but I need an apple. And the nice lighting setup you have.

* Saturation. Acknowledged. to be fair to my concept tho, that was intentional. To achieve the greatest degree of obvious contrast in the photo I pushed the colors on the orange and the apple - but not overall in the photo.
* Composition (framing). This was the issue that concerned me the most. I played with different crops but elected to go with a very symmetrical and obvious crop - with the idea in mind that this best reinforced the obvious contrast elements (apples-oranges and black-white). But I never even thought of or attempted a close crop such as you used here, and now I'm gonna go play with that. I rather like it and it still seems to carry the conceptual message of contrast.

The black 3ds officially beat the iPhone in sexiness
You're joking right? April fools? The 3DS is the ugliest thing to come out of Nintendo manufacturing in a long long while. The DSi was a nice looking handheld, as well as feeling good as far as ergonomics go. The 3DS is a glossy nightmare and should be used as a showcase of what not to do when it comes to industrial design.

He was at Microsoft for 2 years and over a decade at Yahoo. I would say he's more of a Yahoo employee then Microsoft.
I'm pretty sure he didn't fit in at Microsoft the same way ex-IBMer Papermaster did at Apple.
Its a good thing he's going to work at Apple. Hopefully he can help build a FreeBSD backend like Yahoo once had in it's glory days!
What I find ironic is Apple building data centers and pushing the cloud while they just finished acing the Xserve.
Apple should make a move and buyout Joyent if they really want to get serious. Joyent has been picking up a lot of top talent!

it's a rare moment that someone is awake through surgery. usually, i understand, it's a result of a specific patient's reaction to anesthesia, not the administration of it.
of course, that didn't stop me from expressing my fears, the last time I was under :) the anesthesiologist was very thorough, he has clearly answered that question a lot.
You can't ask for extra anesthesia. Unless you want a better chance of killing yourself. Anesthesiology is actually not exactly entirely a science, it has quite a bit of technique to it. You can awake from surgery if you have a reaction to it, but if you don't get enough, that can also make you awake. You aren't fully awake. Your conscious, but your movement is inhibited. Just like if you take 1mg of Alegra it won't do anything, but if you take 180mg of Alegra, it will work (unless it just doesn't work for you).
There have been few reports of people remembering what happens though. For instance a lady getting her appendix out, another one getting her eye removed (thats gotta hurt), and another lady having some kind of tooth surgery.

What do you mean here, to "spend some of his money for the economy"? It's not like Trump will donate half his profits to pay down the debt of the United States. Like any other wealthy person, he's doing his best to increase wealth for himself. And it's far more likely that he'd implement policies that would help to increase his ability to accumulate wealth.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, when elected as governor of California, told the voters that since he was already rich he wouldn't be beholden to special interests and made it seem as if his wealth would give him an advantage in tackling the budget deficit that the state faced. Eight years later, the deficit remained unsolved and Arnold's accomplishments as a leader could best be described as mediocre.
The talent and ability to accumulate wealth is different from the talent and ability to govern. Please don't confuse the two. And please do look more deeply into Trump's background. He is far more of a self-promoting huckster than he is a leader of the people. Donald Trump is in the business of Donald Trump, and this is simply another opportunity to spread his brand.

If people are less likely to use a cashier who is an ethnic minority (which I dispute, but anyway), would that make them less productive and less valuable for their employer?
So, if it is thought that an ethnic minority would actually do a job worse, because of other people's discrimination, then ethnicity technically would make a difference to their ability to do a job.
Would this be grounds for not employing them?
I just don't see that in real life and I think it would be almost impossible to prove in a court of law.
My belief is that we need to move beyond skin color and towards a system where the economically repressed are given a better chance to move up the ladder of success.

my att iphone 4 was set to automatic time for phx az and it moved my clock ahead by an hr today even tho az doesnt do daylight savings so it shouldn't have to change ever.. the clock app has had problems since the beginning which is just ridiculous..
to fix all i had to do tho was turn automatic time off then back on and it corrected itself.
