"Imminent?" Don't you mean "Actually here?"
You are in slow motion today MR! But I still love you.
On the 27th, it was imminent. There is another thread that mentions the release.

Oh my, what a conundrum for the fan boys. On one hand, CR loves the iPad and Apple's customer service but on the other hand, we have the iPhone 4. :D
Ummm...no.
Consumer Reports was clearly pageview trolling with the iPhone 4.
They rated it as their BEST smartphone, but said they wouldn't recommend it.
How does that make any sense?

Time enough to post about it though ;) Merryxmas
I have no time for the 'campaign'. I have a limited amount of time for debate over the logic behind it.

A 4" iPhone would probably replace the 3.5" model so all the current apps would run on it no problem. It might require some tweaking for some apps but the upside is you get to update your app and sell it again.
If they build an iPhone with the same size screen as the iPod Nano then they could invite developers to develop mini-apps for that size screen to be used on the iPod Nano and iPhone Nano, creating a new AppStore category. Would be a huge market and very attractive to developers of news/info related apps.
Thats what I would think would be most likely if there was to be a smaller iPhone. As a developer, I just can't see Apple adding two new iPhone sizes. They can't just make the screen smaller as it may make some buttons/UI elements unusable. They could probably go to 4" and keep the same resolution, but at a loss of ppi. 3.5" is great because you can use it with one hand.

Is it me or is Apple becoming a silly caricature of its own 1984 ad?
If when you say silly you mean terrifying? Then yes I do...

So much whining, so little time.
About the only reason I'd care about anyone getting a discount is if I couldn't get the same discount myself.
Apple can charge what makes sense to them. As long as it's a decent business decision on their side, I have no gripe. If demand is high enough, they can get what they ask. If their institutional customers want to be "tossed a bone" to buy, then throw them a bone and make it up on volume.
Make some money Apple - and don't go broke in the process.
I like what Apple does enough to want Apple to stay healthy.
Nobody has to buy anything Apple sells if they don't want to. Nor can Apple make them.
Move on, people.

noone seems to be happy Apple is bringing in employees from even microsoft. But dont ya think this is kinda a real sign of the dominance Apple is starting to have.
Also maybe Apple has managed to pick out the small piece of talent microsoft had? haha the new strategy will be steal all the good employees, much cheaper than buying them out.

Looks like an excellent update. By the looks of things they've reduced the system requirements, which may mean it will be less of a resource hog.
The MacBook is now officially supported, along with older PowerPC models too.
Kudos to Apple for making it a free update, although there'd have justifiably been an outcry if it wasn't.
Edit: RAW support updates also point to OS X 10.4.8 being released this week too (as per previous poster's observation).

Yeah no thanks. Are you going to tax just individuals or corporations too? Taxing corporations that deliver goods would raise the costs of everything from milk to televisions.
How about if you need more tax revenue, you jack up taxes on imported goods? This will increase revenue, and maybe help prevent some of these companies from moving all their jobs to china.

I think the next iPhone released would be called iPhone 5
2007 - iPhone
2008 - iPhone 3G (instead of calling it iPhone 2 they wanted to promote that it had 3G speed capabilities)
2009 - iPhone 3GS (Want to call it iPhone 3, but used 3G, add S to avoid confusion
2010 - iPhone 4 (4th version)
2011 - iPhone 5
Fair enough. Just for fun, here's what I think it will be:
2007 - iPhone
2008 - iPhone 3G (promote the 3G capabilities)
2009 - iPhone 3GS (just a spec bump, so they give it the "S" designation)
2010 - iPhone 4 (a major revamp- use "iPhone 4" as a strong name to emphasize a "new generation" for iPhone)
2011 - iPhone 4S (just a spec bump, so they give it the "S" designation)
2012 - iPhone 4G (promote the 4G capabilities)
2013 - iPhone 7 (a major revamp- use "iPhone 7" as a strong name to emphasize a "new generation" for iPhone)
... and the cycle more or less repeats ;)

I have an old 2006 MBP 17" 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo 2GB RAM. Game runs slow on the "recommended settings" which puts the majority of the settings on Low. Tried bumping up the resolution which caused the game to crash when the match began.
I'm not happy with the performance of the game on my Mac however it handles the game better than my 2008 Dell Precision laptop running XP. Time to upgrade my MBP.

The finder is being rewritten. This was posted and discussed several places (i think on thinksecret offsite forums. I haven't installed leopard, and I can't comment on it anyway because of NDA, but from stuff on the web, the finder has been rewritten from scratch and it appears that brushed metal is just temporary.
I agree Finder is slower than a snail. Many Mac fans live in denial about the s-l--o--w f----i-----n-------d--------e----r but it is a joke compared to XP. I love OS X and it would be easy to impress others with it's elegance if it weren't for the S-L--O---W F----I-----N------D-------E--------R.
Great! The pop-up menu on my documents folder in the dock just opened. Bye Bye.

The Mac keyboards do seem to be photogenic, don't they? I like the use of strong contrast in this image. What lens did you use and is there any of a vignette applied in post?
I'm glad you guys like it! I Used a Canon T2i with its standard lens 18-55mm. There was no vignette applied. I had to take some noise out of it and and a little bit of saturation. other than that thats it! The inspiration came to me when I was using my MBP in the dark.

I haven't read the link yet, but what would be the URL to the files so you can access them either via a URL or to put an image up in the [IMG] tags?
Or are you simply wanting to use it as an "external HD"?From reading the article, I believe it is the latter. If somebody wrote a suitable device driver so that Gmail storage looked like an external or network disk to Mac OS X, the same thing would work on a Mac. If.
