We have had several wonderful members who have joined the chapter already. We are forming local networks in Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville so that it's easier for all TN members to participate in the chapter activities. Coordination of the activities will be done through the Yahoo group.
I'll be coordinating activities in Nashville area. So if you are from Nashville or surburbs, feel free to PM me.

As I mentioned in my post, I have applied for H1 in India in April,2007and got approval in August,2007.
My Approved H1 B petition does not have change of status i.e 1-94.
I came to USA on L1 in Feb,2008 and working till date. and my I-94 is valid till Feb,2011.
As I want to shift to H1 B,I think I need to go out of country i.e Canada from USA for H1 B stamping.
My question is:
If for some reason, I have not issued H1 visa at Canada consulate,
Is my L1 is still valid and Can I comeback to USA on my L1 visa and I-94? and Can I continue working on my L1 in USA?
Please suggest me the better approach.
My objective is to switch to H1 using my old approved petiiton and not want to go back to India for H1 stamping.

As you entered US on L1 after your H1B approval from India, You need to get that H1B stamped to work on H1B.
Looks like it is a one year old H1B. You should have a valid and strong answer when the officer asks you why you did not use that then or why do you want that one stamped now.
Best way is you can ask your H1B holder to apply for another H1B COS as the visa number is already counted against the cap. Hope fully you are not outstide the US for more than 1 year after approval.
If you go to candian consulate and your H1B gets rejected, it is a tough route. As soon as you go to the consulate they will cancel all the existing visas. You can enter the country with an attorney withing 30 days and your company A should be able to do an L1 again or you are out of status.
I strongly recommend you to go to your home country for the visa stamping until unless you have a US masters degree.

We can all be sure that Mrs. Obama is one person who has command over his ears and anything coming from her would certainly hold his attention. Sure it is not the most honorable way to get shit done, but we'll take whatever we can get.
Let us request a formal appointment, keep it processional and classy, and raise funds so that few IVians from around washington DC can go see her in style.

Did anyone travel to India, by landing at Delhi Intl airport, and then proceeding to other destination city through a domestic airline?
Never been to Delhi, and I have no idea how Intl and domestic travel works in tandem...

Once while coming back from from Mumbai via Delhi, we did not have to change the flights, sat in the same flight to London.
And on other occasion where the connecting flight was Sahara to a Local Indian airport, we had to take our luggage and go to the Delhi domestic airport.
While in both cases, the Airline would arrange for the transport, Delhi has an inside route for passenger transfers(other vehicles are not allowed), while in bombay the bus goes thru the city, where the traffic is always severe.
In both the airports, if you are landing in the late morning (after 3-4am), you should follow up with the local airlines transport co-ordinator( bus driver ;)), to see what time is he gonna wake up and take you to the domestic airport.
Once when my inlaws were transferring from Bombay local to bombay international, they took a cab instead, as Jet airways did not have a bus ready to take the international passengers when they got out of the airport.

1. Should i qualify IELTS to prove english language ability... inspite of having 18 yrs of education with medium of instruction as english?
2. Since i do not have h1 any more and am on PAROLE status.... will it be difficult for me to prove that i have "real intent" of moving to Canada after getting PR?
I would appreciate any one who can throw some light on this.

This is actually a very important matter for you; my best advise would be to contact a good attorney and get the advise. You do not want to put your GC in jeopardy based on opinion from other people who may have incomplete information.

Hi, I am in exactly the same situation. Would just the I-140 receipt number suffice? My employer also hasn't given me any copies of the I-140 and labor certification copies. My I-140 is approved and it's been more than 180 days since I-485 filing..please advise.

There is a correlation between election year and immigration. But if that works out, lets say they make the priority date current, it does not matter whether you filled in 2005 or 2007. Now, we are assuming that they will make the date current. You never know, they might bring some weird rule, which take the priority date as a criteria. So what I am saying is, its your call. If I were in your position, I would wait atleast until we get some answers about the new initiatives....

Since AILF has already issued a preliminary notice about a class action law suit if USCIS rejects applications under a revised bulletin this is a preliminary poll on how many of us would join the law suit? I for one will join the law suit. Understand that you will have to reveal all details about yourself and application in the lawsuit and those details will be transparent to DOS and USCIS.
