All,
This is a very good news that I have heard since last July. I am not sure if MBA's will also be condidered as part of this bill. I have paid around $90 K from my pocket, to get my MBA from Duke.
If that is the case then I would recommend that anyone who has any kind of support from their employer (or even without it) should get a masters degree as soon as possible. This will not only increase our value but will also shorten the queue.... just my 2 cents.

I filed my I-485 on 2nd July 2007, My 180 days completes on 29th Dec 2007
I am in IT job, My job title is System Analyst and I want change the job with similar job title Sr System Analyst , But the technology(Oracle Stuff to Java Stuff) will be different then what is on labor certification.
My future employer will not file H1-B, So I have to start on EAD.
What should be process for me to do the same
* Do I need to file AC21
* If yes, Can I do the AC21 with same or Different lawyer
My advice is to take a new job, leave the current employer on good terms and forget about AC21.

I read somewhere that doctors abroad who do the tests for consular processing cannot be used for AOS medicals.
u'll get RFE only if theres is a mistake in medicals, if there is NO medicals in the 485 packet, i think ur appln will be outright sent back.
whats ur PD, if its in the range of 2000 u still have hope that in next few months ur date becoems eligible for AOS.
ive heard that there are some doctors out there (of questionable integrity) who accept cash and give out medical reports. even tho this is a backdoor approach, u can make a few calls and give it a try. to make ur case more genuine, try to get a list of all attributes recorded in the blood and skin test, and get those done promptly done in india. atleast let the doctor copy over ur wifes actual stats rather than inventing it. If ur case is genuine, may be someone will be merciful to help u out of ur predicament.
Preponing visa interview without very valid reason cud be harmful. u never know, if they catch ur wife telling a lie then ull be walking on thin ice.
last year my friend visited india...he is on 7the year H1, and got 3 yrs extn based on 140. he had attached copy of approved 140 as proof...the chennai visa officer only asked him "is ur company paying for ur GC or you urself" ..he answered Company is paying full amount. and they gave him the visa. :-) if Govt is using approved 140 to give 3 yrs extn, obviously they know the intent to get GC...i dont believe telling truth that ur company is processing GC for you is going to harm you.

Does it really make sense for a CP filer to get EAD? Interim benefits are for AOS filers and rightly so too as a CP filer is deemed to be outside the USA.

Guys as someone else has posted earlier, there is NO basis for asking for this.
CP was created for getting your GC if you are OUTSIDE the US. It is now being conveniently used by people within the US to circumvent certain issues and to get the process approved earlier. EAD and AP are for people WITHIN the US.
So please talk to a lawyer about finding out how to convert a CP to an AOS and you can apply for your EAD and AP. IV cannot keep adding to the list of things to ask for. This point has been stated by the core members over and over again. Currently you cannot have it both ways ie get ur GC quicker through CP AND in the meantime enjoy the interim benefits of the EAD/AP.
Whether you have contributed or not is besides the point. The contribution is to speed up the GC process not for what each individual or smaller set of individuals want for their custom needs.
BOTTOM LINES:
1) IV is fighting for the ENTIRE GC process to be faster.
2) IV Cannot keep changing its goals and what it stands for.

Yes, and unfortunately meaningless for me, because my current company won't do an H1 for me. When I joined this new company on EAD, they clearly told me that maintaining valid immigration status is my headache. They won't file any applications to US govt for me. It was made absolutely clear to me. :-(
To OP: Even if you moved to EAD you can come back to H1. If dates had not moved so much to make your PD current, what was your plan for your wife?
B1 visa of course. :-) . Hey, as I said, I did not think about intent issues at that time. Hindsight is always 20-20. But the deed is done. I never look back. In my dictionary, there is no such word as "should have". I either do something or don't do something. Only losers think they "should have" done something.
B1/F1 is not a good idea (immigration intent is obvious, and it will catch up with you at some point most probably during 485 processing and could result in a rejection). It looks like H1-H4 is the best option if you two lovebirds want to be together.

The root cause of most of your problems here seems to be the decision to invoke AC-21 using EAD instead of using H1. If you dont mind sharing: why did you jump to EAD knowing that it would mean your wife would be out of status and would have to return to India?
Too many issues at that time. Old h1 was anyway expiring soon. Desi bodyshoper employer was going nuts sqeezing me dry. He was demanding money for everything from H1 extension to giving out compnay letters for GC related issues and thousands of such reasons. But as I already said.. it's done..it's done...

6 years for everyone? is everyone's PD 2007? Are they going to issue GC only after 6 years? use a little common sense and you will find that GCs are given based on PD, Older the PD sooner you will get GC. for example a person with PD 2003 will get GC within 6 months.
I am not sure of this but from studying data, I get the impression that the GC are given out on a FIFO system based on when USCIS receives your I-485 (assuming it clears NC) and NOT PD date
