I had similar problem with United last year. I was flying thruogh Malaysian airlines and United charged me for extra 20 LBs. But it was checked in till India.
Delta is more helpful that way, one of my friends family had separate tickets on Delta and Malaysian, but the delta checkin guy checked in for both flights upto India, and even allowed the 70lbs on the delta part of the flight.

It is not possible to revert back to the system where we were allowed to concurrently file I-140/I-485.
The only practical thing that can fought for and achieved is increase in number of visa numbers per year and faster processing.
Even, if visa numbers are current, they will not accept concurrent filing.

I filed for 485 during July 2007. My 140 was already approved. Due to some problems I quit my employer in August 2007. My previous employer was a desi blood sucker. I was fed up & decided to quit after working for him for 3 years. I applied for H1 transfer with a new employer based on approved 140. I got H1 approval for another 3 years. Currently I am working for the new H1 sponsoring employer. I also received an EAD card based on pending 485 for one year. I didnt notify USICS of job change in July.
I applied for EAD extension this year. The application for EAD extension is pending. I got a following RFE on my 485:
Please state whether or not you are currently working for your I-140 petitioner.
You must submit a currently dated letter from you permanent employer, describing your present job duties & position in the organization, your proferred position (if different from your current one), the date you began employement & the offered salary & wage. I support country quota otherwise all the greencards will be taken by Indians and Chinese and the people from small countries will not even get a chance. I am sorry but of you are born on one of these countries then you have to wait before everyone who filed earlier.
If country quotas are removed in employment based category, skilled immigrants from other countries will get EQUAL chance just as skilled immigrants from India and China.
Here is a problem arising as the result of country quotas -
1.) Huge backlogs in EB green card categories
2.) Consulting companies apply for H1 for more and more people from backlogged countries because it will take 6-12 years for people from countries that are backlogged in EB green card category. This causes more backlogged EB green card categories, and more incentive for consulting companies to hire from backlogged countries. So less people from other countries are hired on H1.
As someone said on this forum, I took resume and my qualifications for the job interview, I did not take my birth certificate for the job interview. So why should the EB green card, which is a direct benefit of my employment, be judged based on where my birth certificate was issued?

I read somewhere that now all the applications - 485/EAD/AP, for one particular applicant, are adjudicated by the same officer. This is a new process change to improve efficiency. I think the article I read indicated that it was already working that way at TSC.
Unfortunately, i don't have the link, but I will post it if i come across it.
My case (I485) is with NSC. The e-filed EAD renewal also got LIN number, but (may be due to load distribution) it is being handled by MSC.
Does this imply everything will be handled by MSC instead of TSC? I think source article is needed to analyze, what is happening.

I agree that with apinto and gooblywoobly that risk assessment should be done by everybody. risk calculation can be best be approximate. But most people paint the best case and leave it there in order to enjoy material comforts.

When the adversity strikes, people write long stories without a moral at the end. The moral of the story is don't sign up for heavy loans and mortgages, when you are a temp . That's not your venture (risk) capital that you can just burn up like startups did in the silicon valley and ruined it.
Yes, immigration sucks but this is not a moral of the present story. If you make a film like that,where you are skating on thin ice, folks will laugh at you. Make a better film which says you can't buy a house or invest here, even if you can afford it and you cannot accept job promotions or change jobs due to restrictive immigration policies.
And yes, if you leave your cars and your houses behind and run off to home country with your tails between your asses, you deserve to be extradited and put behind bars. You know why. My companies has high paying financial institutions as its customers. They have slashed their IT budgets due to folks like you (loan defaulters) and now I find myself going several rounds of layoffs, despite no fault of mine. Its making me loose my sleep.:mad:

Hi Guys,
I was out last week. I am back now. Last time when we had a conference call, we decided to post flyers about immigration voice in our local communities and also getting in touch with the local newspapers. Since everyone is back from the holidays now, lets have a conference call next Wednesday. Till then, please post as many flyers as possible to increase IV's awareness.

May be we should do some thing dramatic. Like sending letter to Canadian Government, here we are 1000 skilled people with extensive experience and International degrees. Collectively we going to bring in $1 million or more. Can you expedite our Permanent residency!!

Although USCIS does not report to Congress, USCIS merely implement the laws created by 100 Senators and 435 House members. Our anger towards USCIS is mis-directed. The anger and focus should be on the Congress to pass the laws that will fix green card wait time.

Guys.....if you want to change representation to self in your 485 case, you do not need to file a form G-28......G-28 is for lawyers seeking permission to represent you. You do not need a permission for yourself............all you have to do is send USCIS a letter saying all future correspondence should be done with you and you are representing yourself on this case hereon....follow up after a month after sending the letter to ensure they have changed you as the point of contact on the case........If you are substituting your current lawyer by another one, then you need a new G-28

I got the radiologist's report. Its on an official letterhead of the hospital and it includes his findings, recommendations etc. but it doesn't contain his signature. It only says "Read By: Dr. XXX and Prepared by: Dr. XXX. Nothing is handwritten, its all in print and the top portion says Radiology Report. It includes all my information including my DOB etc.
But the RFE says that the Radiologist's report should be on an official letterhead and signed by the Radiologist.
When i called the Doctor's office, they said that these documents are received electronically and are E-Signed so there won't be any signatures as such. They have mailed me a sealed copy but I'm wondering if this will be a problem since it doesn't contain the Radiologists's signature.
Any inputs on this would be appreciated.
