For a person holding a 10-year multiple entry B1/B2 visa, how long can they stay for each visit. Is it determined at the port of entry by the officer? or is there a standard like 30 days or something per visit? I know parents visiting can stay for max of 6 months. Can they travel across to canada and then reenter for another 6 months? Just curious.

I recently heard that during WWII US gave citizenship to soldiers from Phillipines to fight against Japan. Once the war was over it stripped citizenship of those soldiers (250,000 soldiers). US did not even compensate those soldiers with money. These soldiers recently got compensation from stimulus package to the amount of 15k/person for the work they did in 1940s.
So beware to sign up for this program. Especially with military, they can chose what is confidential/matter of national security etc and not let you go in court, while you are outside fighting in Pakistan.

I guess the apointment dates are not yet open for nov 06 .. I had the same issue with chennai consulate I was trying to book one in nov 06 .. all these days it said no appointments for nov .. they just opened them (nov dates) up today for chennai consulate .. so I picked one..
Delhi .. I am not sure wat dates are current .. if it shows JUne/July currently u may need have to check every now and then until nov dates open up
I have taken mine and my wifes appointment for the same day.. In the process of your application on VFS it asks wether u want to add another passport .. u need to provide the second HDFC recipt #
You have to have ur petition no.. (SRC #) ..

you know.. I meant to do this a while ago, but lost track of the thought. I have a write up in one of my books, done by Colin Moock, in which he takes his frame rate tester and tests a variety of things to see which effect frame rate and to what degree. I really do think it's worth posting. I'll try to do a small write up on the subject soon.

I personally think 1 yr+ wait should work. But definitely take the letters-to-congressmen route first.

Can someone please confirm if "Card Production Ordered" email from USCIS mean my 485 is approved and I have gotten GC ?
Also if May bulletin is Unavailable it still means that GC;s issued if your date is current in April are valid ? My email came yesterday same day as the new May bulletin ?
May bulletin is effective only in May 09, so you are in good shape.

I went to the infopass to inquire about the "additional review" letter I got from TSC. Officer did some search and told me the following " this case is in transit to an officer TODAY, just 30 minutes before. you dont have to worry about this notice". He also said that call us back in 45 days .. I did fax all the details to the Senator but am not sure whether this resulted from the inquiry.

I think the tests are all written there in the form available online. You could download it and get whatever you could from your PCP before you go to the civil surgeon. This would make your life easier.

We are in the same boat. We also filed our I-485 separately through our respective employers but we have not requested to merge the applications yet. From my consultation to an attorney, you have following options:
1. If you already have receipt numbers for your case, you should send the copies of your I-485 receipt notice and approved I-140 along with your spouse's application. Attach a cover letter requesting to append your spouse's file with yours. That way, you don't have to do a separate step of letting USCIS know later on. Don't forget to include a copy of marriage certificate.
2. In case you do not have receipt numbers for your case (which was our case), your spouse can fill out his/her application and then wait to receive notice receipts for both of your applications. Notify USCIS about merging your applications. From my understanding, there is no way of confirming if the files were merged so this doesn't gurantee that they will be merged.

Once you are approved, you can take an infopass apointment and request spouse's adjuciation based on your spouse's approval and your pending application. Not sure , but you can also file follow to join (which takes 6 months) for the other member to receive GC once you have one approved GC in hand. You don't have to depend on PD after this.
I honestly recommend taking a second opinion from attorney and would really appreciate if you can share what your attorney recommends.

I think you misunderstood a point made there. Though it is possible to extend renew H1 for employer if EAD was used some time, but that is like recapturing that status and means fulfilling the terms of H1, by giving up on part time job.
You cannot be on H1 and use EAD for second job at the same time.
This is also what I have understood on doing some research; there also was a similar thread here "H1 Status After Using EAD" where people seem to say the same.
That is, once you start using EAD you loose your H1 status. If you want to get back on H1 (before the decision on 485) then your company has to extend your H1 in which case you will have to give up your part time job.
Things get bad if your 485 is denied while you are on EAD then your company may be able to extend your H1, but you will have to go out of country and return once the H1 extension is approved.
