The Bill has gone too far from what it means.Why didn't the congressman ask the American employers the same questions they asked other big companies.The H1 and L1 classifications allows them for gouging but the bill is not the answer for it.They are trying to show the stats that supports their insane bill.

I have suffered a lot due to this stamping business and I have a thread on IV "STUCK IN MONTREAL" I was there for almost 2 months with 2 of my sons and wife. My oldest one lost his full smester of college, 2nd one was only in 4th grade and got lucky due to his excellent record in school and hence was promoted, due to this stamping business and I was poorer by 30K. I will do whatever needs to be done to get this bill rolling and am ready to share my story with any one..
This was my 3rd stamping with the same employer and 2nd one was also in Toronto in 2005 at that time I had no problems and this time my salary was almost 30% more tan the last one in 2005.

Based on this, GC holders with 40 work credits (that is, 10 years of US work experience) and reside in any of the 50 US states are eligible for SS, if they satisfy age and other requirements.
It is possible that the the articles I read assumed that it will take 10 years to get citizenship. I have read this remark more then once.
I will not be able locate the articles but keep in mind in the following articles. I have put a question mark on my original post.

You sure are a spindoctor : You gave yourself a worthy id. Why do you have to call USCIS cruel for the choices you made ? USCIS has not separated you from your wife. You have chosen to live in this country and you have the choice to be with her or not. Remember - no one can force you to do anything in this world. Life is always a tradeoff for every living creature in this world and we must learn to make the best of it. Nice story :) I had a clause in my first contract that I had to work for a company at least for 6 months or I will have to reimburse all H1B-related expenses. Well, I left the company and when the company's president called me, just told him to get lost. Never heard from him again. Looking back, I should've sued the company because it did not pay me full salary for the first month while I was on the "bench" (searching for a contract). Well, I am just too lazy :)

I tend to agree with your interpretation that "NOT SUBJECT TO PER COUNTRY LIMITATION IF ADDITIONAL VISAS AVAILABLE" refers to those beyond 140K. The language of law is always beautiful, isn't it?:)
Anyhow, I still think it merits a deeper investigation and consultation with attorneys.

Dont worry...we are not alone. Infact, we (I and my wife) are going through this phase as we speak.
1) As someone else pointed group insurance is the best option so far in my research.
2)** Chk out this site: http://www.aim.ca.gov/english/costs.html I am planning to apply soon hoping that we will qualify
3) Call a OBGYN and tell them that you dont have insurance, generally they will suggest a community center kind of a place where you can get started with prenatal care, such as re-confirmation, ultrascan etc
4) Call the hospital for the payment plan and get into it.

its a really good discussion, thanks to all people who have provided valuable information. I am a Consultant throughout my career and never lead a team but now planning to change gears and move into project management. When I goolged about the requirement to take the exam, Lot of PMP training institutes came up and they are charging about $2000 for training and they say its a 5 day course, guarantee to pass bhla bhla .... My first question is it required to take these training classes? if not how to become eligible for to take the exam, Please advice.

Same like other folks here, thanks to USCIS, I have never been able to use it, since I am in eb3 and cant change job family. anyways here is my thought, in my opinion, this is just my opinion , keep in mind, those trainings are not at all necessary, if you have little bit of perseverance and time. Reason I am saying this is, with 2 kids, I was able to do this PMP certification myself, without any training. I took my own sweet time, spent 6 months studying in a library (2 hours every day on weekdays) and couple of hours in the weekends. I could pass this in one shot. And if I can do it, anyone can do it. All you need is perseverance and I am sure you will get through. PM me if you have any questions on how to prepare for the exam.

Another Quebec/Ontirio question.
Apart from the French language and referendum threat, are there any other downsides for Montreal? I guess the reason I seem to be fixated is that I think if I am going to make this change I might as well change the life setting to somewhat more European (in terms of architecture and the environment overall) as I am getting tired of American setting some times. So Montreal sounds more European in that sense. I do however, have a wife and kids and not sure if that makes a difference in the choice of destination as oppose to being a single migrant. Any differences in terms of education quality or family friendly policies between Ontario and Quebec?

Quebec is a poorer province than Ontario, but Montreal is fantastic. If you are after a European flair, then this is the spot for you. There are "english areas" (like Beaconsfield) to live in, that I would recommend if you don't speak french.
VS Ontario: Housing is more affordable, wages may (?) be a pinch lower, taxes are higher.
Canadian educational system is different than the US. You don't need to look for a neighbourhood with a good school. However, a good neighbourhood is better for your family.

Seems like everyone losing hope including core - as someone else said above its really sad to see this. Please dont lose hope at this critical moment else all of our efforts for last two years will go waste.
I cant imagine how much time/effort has been put into this effort by core members (as a relatively inactive member I myself could have easily spent several hundred hours on these forums in last year and half; and atleast some time in calling/faxing etc.). After all these efforts and seeing the current bill its understandable to get deeply disappointed. But dont lose hope yet. Its not over.

All of us were also thinking that we are in a better position to introduce and enact amendments in this congress. We still have time (2 weeks) for amendments - why are we thinking about alternate arrangements and slowly losing hope. Does this show our level of confidence now or this thread is meant for some light hearted fun?
