Is a shorten keyboard ideal to learn playing on? I see Garage Band has some lessons but I would imagine as a beginner, the last thing you want is to adjust knobs and sliders to move up/down the octaves.
I like the M-Audio Oxygen 25. Looks like a very compact but has a lot of features.
Any thoughts?
Mine works great. I have a full sized keyboard, but I use the Oxygen 25 for composing. It sits right above my computer keyboard.

I'm interested to see what he's planning to build in it's place.
His crypt, perhaps a pyramid, or something already designed by Bucky Fuller?

Then I guess something is wrong with my machine, because my old core2duo based system is a lot peppier than this machine. I use Virtual Box on my Windows machine, and I can run multiple instances without breaking a sweat.

Algoriddim has reduced the price of its djay app for the iPhone and iPod touch from $4.99 down to $.99 for a limited time. djay (http://appshopper.com/music/djay-for-iphone-ipod-touch) for the iPhone and iPod touch debuted (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/15/algoriddims-djay-arrives-on-iphone-and-ipod-touch/) in the App Store last month and was preceded by a version for the iPad (http://appshopper.com/music/djay) released in December (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/12/02/djay-application-for-ipad-released/).
djay provides a virtual turntable interface for music mixing and scratching as well as beat-matching, EQ controls and more. The app takes advantage of several features that debuted with iOS 4.2 in November (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/22/ios-4-2-1-now-available/) including full access to the iPod library and AirPlay.

macnut isn't gonna like this.;)In a way I agree with McCarver, While Torre may have worn out his welcome he did bring us 4 championships. Torre should have been able to leave on his own terms and both sides handled it badly. The Yankees wanted to fire him but they wanted Torre to fall on the sward. Torre was bitter so he wrote the book. He even admitted that the book probably was a bad idea.
The Yankees are wrong to not even acknowledge what Torre did and a lot of why they started to lose was because of the teams they gave Torre to work with. I admit that It was probably time for a new leader of the team but Torre was still due respect for what he accomplished during his time there.
McCarver may have gone over the top in his comments but he was not totally wrong.
The Yankees knew that Torre would not accept a 1 year deal so he walked. That is what they wanted, they had no intentions of giving his an extension. They wanted to take the team in a new directions and that is fine, but don't treat Torre like dirt on the way out. They either should have fired him or told him they were not going to rehire him. They decided to string him along for as long as they could.

I too have been considering OWC but surely their RAM is just a relabel of another brand?
Everyone's RAM is just a relabel unless you're buying direct from a manufacturer like Infineon. What you're getting with the relabel is a warranty and customer service for said warranty. OWC is totally worth it, IMO.

Hi, I am about to buy am iBook g3 on eBay. The seller sates that the unit powers on but spits the cd tray out and has the dreaded blinking question mark. Can I just use my Panther install disks to reformat it? Or could this be more serious. Also, will my iBook clamshell ac adapter work on this? Thanks!
I would ask the seller to try to make a fresh install on it first before i ever buy that thing :)

I have a 250gb Porche design and it's nice. I hasn't failed. It hums a little, and it spools down when I unmount the drive from the OS. I really don't get what all the design kudos are for it. It has a shiny front, and is pretty much a rectangle. I like SilverKeeper, the backup software that comes with it. Careful with what you choose to exclude during the backup.

The stock analysts have target prices on Apple as high as $550.
I have absolutely no doubt that will happen, so I am holding my large position in Apple.
A broker can give you suggestions how to buy without a SS#.
The OP has suggested that he doesn't want investment advice, i.e., the wisdom of putting all of his money in one stock thats at an all time high, but rather how can he actually go about purchasing the stock using US dollars without a social security number.

If you just type "cd New" then press Tab, it'll autocomplete the rest of the command for you.

Has anyone tried the litescribe on the new lacie burners?
Can't wait for LightScribe either... I'm only hoping Apple will add that feature to all computers in their next rev. Imagine burning a CD with iTunes and having album arts + tracks written on the label, or making a movie and then having a label made from the main menu/title image (or something). It would be perfect for laptops too (no need to carry extra hardware).

Colin over at command-tab.com replaced a few things in his PB, which involved opening it up, maybe this article (http://www.command-tab.com/index.php/powerbook-overhaul/) can help.

I'm an Android guy but I bought an iPad 2. Since I didn't know much of the app store, I bought an app for $9.99 with my mom's credit card (it's on her account). but i wanted to use my 25 dollar gift card, i didn't know you were supposed to redeem it first -___-.
i sent an email reporting it saying it was a mistake. do you think they will revert it or does apple have a no return policy?

I was actually thinking of waiting until I could get 8GB and SandyBridge (iX) processors. ;) But the fact they'll have to be ULV will still make their performance lower than the MBPs.
A MBA with SandyBridge and 8GB of ram would be a really nice machine

keith is probably right re: dv import, i don't use imovie so i don't know (thus the version history link). There shouldn't be any qualitative difference btwn DV files imported on older / newer machines and the import from tape is in real-time, so an old machine will crank away just as well as anything. The new machine will make a big difference when actually transcoding, editing, and exporting.

Yes, everybody would like to know more, but what's another month?
I've already decided that unless by some miracle FCP X can really replace my FCP 7 workflow straight out of the box in June (highly unlikely), I'm not buying it until it truly can, even if it's only $300. I'm sure the post houses feel the same way...Its a no brainer for me. Ill buy it so I can at least start at ground floor. It wont take me away from Avid/FCP at work but I will at least have a head-start in case the school I teach at gets it for Fall classes.
Now as far as dropping it into a real world workflow, Id wait a bit.
Ive learned to not get caught up on the hype thanks to companies such as Adobe :P
Ill let the million plus beta-testers deal with it before I move to another CS blah blah blah :P

Dude, it's apple. you need to b*tch like anything to them to get it fixed. Ask to be transferred to second tier, yell down the phone, whatever it takes... You just have to be really $#!++y with them and then they'll co-operate. that's the only way i could get my base station replaced. trust me, i tried the nice approach, doesn't work, you've just got to be pissed off enough to make them want to fix the problem so they don't have to hear about it any more.
