Funny part is, most people who are opposing the mosque aren't jews, they're christians. As a matter of fact, BLOOMBERG (can't get anymore jewish than that) is a supporter of the mosque project.

I've just watched the keynote video and Steve does look really ill to me..
He also didn't seem as prepared for the presentation as normal as he had to keep reading his notes.
Hope I'm wrong though..

I was AMAZED to see a video on my iPad off CNN of people in the affected areas of Japan calmly walking through a food store with 90% empty shelves. Calmly, quietly picking up one or two things here or there placing them in the cart and moving on. An interview of a shopper through interpreter announced "This is the only store with any stock...." and yet it was a peaceful as can be. :)

There's a note... since 2000 there have been about 2-2.5 million PC+other tablets sold in the market.. in 10 years... Apple pushed out 15% of that figure in one weekend...

While a neat technology, it's a bit of a stretch to really call this "glasses-free 3D". Unlike the 3DS, where actual illustion of depth is present, this is just changing the perspective on a rendered 3D object on the screen based on head position. The image that the left and right eye sees are the same, thus no actual "3D" effect.
Plus this has been done on the DSi before.
Still neat.

I've been streaming divx movies over 802.11b from my main windows pc to a dedicated POS 866 PIII with a video out to my TV for 4 or 5 years (This is before I learned the greatness of ... i.e. could afford a mac). I don't see how having an airport with airtunes/video would be a problem. I would buy one in a heartbeat, because it is much cheaper than buying a Mac mini for that sole purpose.
And althougth the current resolution of iTunes video is lower res than DVD, it still looks pretty good when I hook up my powerbook to my TV. It's not fantastic, but it looks better fullscreen on my 32" tube than my 24" LCD monitor. The only problem I have with it is when they crop 16x9 shows down to 4x3. I want to see Lost in all its glory.

I was basing the suggection on an acticle from MacWorld a few months ago about trying to use a MacMini as a Media Center. Watching videos/movies stored on a Powermac G5, on the mini required a direct connection. Neither Bonjour or Powerline Ethernet would do the trick. The reviewer would get a server connection error. There was never any logic to using Woodcrest across the board - only for the Quad. Conroe is just as fast, cheaper and cooler for dual core models. :)

In this regard, I think it's ridiculous for the government to mandate that a company build a certain number of xx mpg cars, regardless of whether people actually want to buy those cars or not.
Carrot and stick. I think a combination of incentives, taxes and penalties should be implemented to encourage people to buy more efficient cars.
I don't think we should force people to buy efficient cars, but when too many people are commuting in trucks and SUVs it becomes a problem. Also, if all our domestic manufacturers are good for is making full size trucks that only Americans will buy, then we are making ourselves less globally competitive.

The only iLife app I am interested in is iPhoto, so much potential but with such serious performance issues...

But look guys, Calm Down. There is no right solution for the 'professional' editor. Walter Murch, one of the best narrative film editors in the world, cuts on Final Cut Pro. Thelma Schoonmaker, often considered THE best editor in the world (if such hierarchy has any plausibility), cuts on a beta release of Lightworks. Anything that 'does the job' can therefore be considered 'professional grade software'. I find it hard to believe that some people here can't see Final Cut X being used by the most talented and serious professionals.

sounds neat. but honestly after having a treo 650.... I would much rather the additional option of a smart PDA/Phone/Ipod.

Seriously, it is going to take until the end of the Summer just for Apple to get the iPad 2 fully released worldwide and not still have long lines and delays. Then Apple will settle down, optimize the production, drive costs down a little bit, and get ready to rake in the profit as iPad 2 continues to sell briskly through Christmas. Releasing another iPad would just mean continued bottlenecks of supply, more research costs and higher production costs. Why do that when it still looks like Apple can sell every iPad 2 it can make?
I think the next iPad gets retina or something close to it. But that will require technical improvements in battery, power consumption and cost decreases for the display. I'm not sure when that will be economically feasible.

Actually the recent news about the location db is a completely unrelated issue.
1. Apple does collect location data in order to improve their location services. This was long ago disclosed to regulators and users. This is NOT the target of the recent media buzz.
2. Your phone dynamically creates a local cache of known cell tower locations in order to aid in GPS triangulation (the "a" in aGPS). This is the recent hot topic and has been grossly misrepresented by the media. (Apple does not collect this data, because they sent it to you in the first place)
Oddly enough ALL cellular phones on GSM create a local cache of known cell tower locations - this is agnostic of GPS and has nothing to do with it. Long time WinMobile 6/6.1/PE and Nokia S60 2nd/3rd Edition users that have used CellLOCK or a similar apps can attest to this.

Offer a reasonable subscription price and people will buy it. I refuse to pay $3.99 an issue for wired. Read the comments on the app store, most people are holding out for fairly priced subscriptions before they will spend anymore money.
