I agree with you here, I want to order a macbook so bad, but the fact of having shared graphics kills me. I work with photoshop and I would like to have a dedicated graphics card, yet a small screen for travel. I'll buy an external lcd when I need a large screen at home or use my 20" imac.
Me too actually.... i'd get a Macbook too if i could play games decently on it. The integrated graphics card is poo.

if i'm paying for a digital subscription, there's no reason why i should also have to look at ads.
i can see why there are ads for a print edition, due to printing costs, paper, and shipping, but none of those exist for a digital edition.
The price you pay for apps won't pay the bills, and advertising by itself won't do it either, especially online advertising, which brings in much less revenue than print ads. So if you want original content with original reporting, those content producers and editors have to paid somehow. It's going to take a combo of subscriptions/apps and advertising.

Sorry but that's not the case, created an account just recently to provide my input on this issue on another thread. I am 3 iPads down with problems and still hoping the 4th will arrive with no leakage or dead pixels. I'm glad yours is "absolute fine" but if you do a search or just ask around you will find this is a widespread problem
Maybe you're just one of a few guys who always have something to complain about that apple staffs just got tired of dealing with or they are too busy taking ipad 2's order that they just gave you a replacement without question. I bought 2 ipads on launch day and have experienced no problem so far. Good luck to you and hope you'll be happy some day.

Adults that can survive on their own.
Did they teach themselves how to track game? Did they teach themselves how to build traps and snares? Or what plants were edible? How to build a shelter? How to make a fire? How to tend to wounds so they don't become infected?
Who taught these adults the survival skills necessary to make it alone in the wild?

I'll be there, but I'll be with my Sis and her bf. Pretty much just tagging along with them. She doesn't like to plan, so I have no idea what we'll be doing. Her bf gets to watch the keynote. Lucky bastard.
Maybe I'll see some of you there. I look like me, plus ten pounds. Damn holiday cooking.

 I dont understand why people keep insisting on virtually outdated technolgies.
The new standard is Blu Ray. Get with the program :)
I think Blu Ray is going to flop.
and to the other guy, I think it's perfectly legitimate to announce a new MBP enclosure with a DL superdrive at the WWDC. I mean it's the pro model laptop. Developers would definitely be using it. And they can burn things faster! :D

Somebody told me the old shuffle automatically converted songs into 128kbs AAC while you are adding it to the shuffle, even if they were of a much higher bitrate or saved in another format. I wonder if the new one does the same thing. It would be nice to keep my songs ALAC on my harddisk without wasting too much memory when I add it to the shuffle, where sound quality does not matter much.

My belief is that if you want to patent something, it has to be tangible. If you are doing nothing but writing patents on something you've never made, sorry bub, you lose out. Make a product and sell it, then your welcome to patent all day.
I'm tired with companies that just have a "business process" patent and think that it's something that they can get away with having. Where is the "product" that you sell to consumers? I don't see you offering your "business process" for sale, since it's your bread and butter, but I digress.
Build something that can be patented or quit filing patents, pretty easy.
In this context, Nokia had some great ideas, patented it, but never made a product that they sold to anyone or used in any of their products. My belief is it's an invalid patent.

I reckon every kid who has used iMovie in the last few years will start using FCP X in about July. This is the next generation of video editors, and they will far outnumber Avid users. They will be making movies for web distribution.
I see a big downside to Apple's decision to build FCP on iMovie's foundation and put pro editors in the same room with the skater dudes. Apple will be getting tons of FCP feature requests from former iMovie users, asking for things that are easy to use and more automatic, and many high-end things that pros want to be added will take longer to implement because of it. There are lots of things in FCPX that are clearly geared toward the iMovie upgrader who is used to things being drop-dead simple- and yes, they can be turned off, but the time that Apple spent developing them is time they could have spent focusing on high-end pro stuff...

I just downloaded and reported 3 issues I had today...I have a feeling I'll submit 3-4 of these a day :(
I'll give to them though...they have taken on more data/traffic then any other carrier. iPhone users...use their phone more, use data way more, download music, apps, gps etc etc...I don't blame them for having network issues under the strain.
I assume that any carrier would/will.
I've had AT&T for 12 years (back when it was Cellular One) and I never had the problems I'm having now...until the iPhone came out. Alas...I do love my iPhone though...and I forgive it for dropping calls and all the other unwanted stuff it does!
I agree with what you said, and as far as my personal situation---I have great coverage in my area (Atlanta suburb). I also know that two of the largest cities in the US, San Fran and New York have problems which are probably tied to over taxing the ATT cell infrastructure, and I sympathize with your headaches and frustrating service. As far as the ATT app, I applaud this initiative to bridge the perceived gap between customer service and the ATT users. Yes, they may be slammed with information about problem areas, but it appears that they are trying to help correct the problems that are out there. Only time will tell if they are serious about addressing the areas of need, and I have to think that this would be suicide if it was just an attempt to placate customers instead of really solving the problems that exist.
I have been a longtime customer in the line of acquisitions, Bellsouth, Cingular and now ATT, and I really have nothing but great things to say about my service, and of course the iPhone is my greatest and most favorite thing I have ever owned. I don't think the suits at ATT are dumb, and they have to know that for them to stay in the cell service game, they have to improve their customer service satisfaction ratings. I have confidence they will fix the problems as best as they can, and will rise again to be the wireless company that will rival number 1 VZ, if not surpass them. I really get tired of reading all the hate mail, and yes, the vocal majority who complain about things are probably a smaller percentage of customers than customers who are happy about their cell plans. If you're unhappy you are much more likely to complain about things than satisfied customers who don't feel the burning need to say that they are happy and content. That's just human nature, and we had a saying in management when I worked in retail that went like this....a dissatisfied and unhappy customer will tell 7-10 friends and acquaintances how mad they are, and customers who are happy with their product or service might tell 1-2 people. Obviously to stay in business, mgt needs to handle complaints with great concern, because those customers can hurt your business faster than the happy ones can help you grow. My last thoughts are this. If I was having trouble with my iPhone service, I would follow this story closely and see if ATT shows real action based on the information that comes in via the app. I think they will, because the repercussions of this not being fruitful with solutions can really inflame the base of iPhone users to shout louder and legitimize their beef with ATT. I also have to think that Apple is watching this situation closely and will go a long way with either keeping the exclusive agreement alive or hastening it's end. One way or another, something will happen, and because ATT has committed to partner this contract with Apple and it has made a lot of money for them, I think good things will come out of this and I hope they close the gap between them and VZ. Competition is always the best solution for all customers, and we will all moan if ATT diminishes and VZ becomes the only real player here.
For all the VZ lovers out there that are sick of ATT, read some recent articles about the business tactics that VZ has done to their customers and from what I've seen, they look a lot like the MS philosophies that we have all come to hate. I'm referring to bullying their users with draconian penalties and huge early termination fees. Not everything is rosy in VZ land, and I think that a lot of the forum posts are falling for "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence". Be careful what you ask for.......I'm pulling for competition between both companies.
(and no, I don't work for ATT......really!)

Which is why I'm now reconsidering buying a 360 Elite...If the same components are being used...I'm not getting one. Microsoft needs to get their quality up. It's one thing that Sony has gotten correct this generation. Their console is quiet, reliable, and most of all, full of power and potential. I think the tides are turning for Sony. Looks like I'll be getting a 360 when it drops down to $200...:o
It will use the same components as the original 360:

Says it toward the end of the article.

Na, these two have and will survive without iPhone.
These already have traffic capability anyway ( via subscription ).
I am in agreement with Chaz on this. With Android and iOS having so much built into their portable OS now, I kinda think the days of dedicated GPS devices are going to be limited.
It is sad, but I do see more and more iPhones, and Android devices attached to front windshields were a normal GPS usually goes.

I'd like to be able to hide the menu bar in the next version of OSX, like the way you can hide the dock. More real estate for the screen.
It's 22 freaking pixels. So intrusive.

Not possible. Glasses free 3d requires very narrow viewing angles, you cant move your head around or the 3d effect is lost.
I know that but what I meant was that with further development of the technology this narrow viewing window might be able to shift sideways (not widening it) so that it's always where your eyes are. I'm just speculating and imagining and I don't know if there's any possibility for this technology to ever work this way, I'm pretty sure that 15 years ago no one thought that glasses free 3D would be practically possible

Freedom's only requirement should be that you obey the law. Within those confines, a person should have the right to express themselves as they please.

I have this gut feeling Apple is holding back on features not implemented yet on purpose.Just like they held back on OS X running on Intel.
If Apple were to release some of those "secret" features to developers now Microsoft would have it too and possibly add similar features at the last minute.
I also believe Apple and Microsoft are working together on some stuff.
Vista Jan 30th
Leopard shown at MWSF and released in March.
Rosetta won't be visible on Intel machines in March.
