    I have decided to make a thread because I have exhausted all my means of club searching, I have yet to get bad advice from MR, and lots of good clubs try to stay underground.

    I love to dance. I try to dance 4 times a week, but usually I only get 3 nights per week. Wednesdays are always annoying because I can't ever find a club to go to and I have no class on Thursday, so I can sleep in.

    So if anyone here is familiar with clubs in New York City, please help me out:

    I'm gay - so a gay club is preferable, but I'd be more than willing to go to a straight club if they have good music. Mixed clubs are a lot of fun too. A place like webster hall, which isn't mixed at all would be a last resort.

    I'm a poor student - free is preferable, but I'd be willing to pay up to $15, depending on how much I feel like dancing (which is usually quite a bit :p).

    I want to dance, not lounge! So no lounges or bars, please!

    I'm only 18, so 21+ clubs aren't possible. I don't have a fake ID, I don't drink.

    I'm in Manhattan, and I'm not so keen about riding the subway from too far away back to my dorm at 3-5AM after I'm done dancing. So, a club in Manhattan would be nice, near Union Square would be awesome. I like to walk to/from clubs to warm up/cool down my legs. :)

    It really is driving me nuts staying pent up in my dorm on Wednesday nights, when I'm in a dancing mood, so you have no idea how much I'll love you if you can find me a good place to go dancing on Wed. nights.

    Thanks :),

    _Emerson

    Thanks for the tip. apple's laptop are always such a pain to open up. Changing the hard drive on my toshiba only involved taking out 5 screws.:(

    parts of pbfixit.com were good.. but that was the simple stuff.. the hardest part of the whole bit was doing this, and they essentially give you the wrong info. i should've taken pictures, but for anyone who is interested.. oh my 15" powerbook revision C, this holds true.

    if you get to the part of having to remove this latch. get a nice dentist poker stick thingie and instead of prying at the case, simply push aside the optical slot protector/dust stoppers on the left side, right at the first little slit going vertically. insert the tip of the dentist thing into the area .. you can see the case and the latch if you look very carefully. put it in between them and gently pull forward while lifting on the top case gently. it comes off very very easily. this will essentially mean you touch ZERO of your case while taking this off. if you go in through the gap as pbfixit.com says, depending on the tool (metal or whatever) it will quickly turn nasty and you'll be ruining your case... if someone would like pictures, i can take them... it won't be real accurate, but i can point out the obvious parts. maybe i'll even put a guide together for it to help people..

    going to take photos now. be back shortly with pics.

    EDIT: they're very hard to take, due to the small area i'm trying to capture. i'm going to try more later.. but i'll post back here when i get better pics.

    Apple has had so much trouble getting the white iPhone to market, it almost seems anti-climactic now. I was going to get one originally, but I'm locked into my contract now so it's irrelevant.

    Seems like Apple could have left the colors to after-market suppliers, for those customers desperate for a certain look.

    Yes a keyboard will be useful but the most important thing in a studio is sound. If you can't hear what you're doing it's so frustrating. If you're just starting out you may think that having ok sound will do the trick but it won't be long before you're not sure if you're hearing your mix or your speakers when you're mixing on bad speakers. I'd much rather make house music with good sound than a keyboard.

    For good speakers, you're looking for near field monitors, they differ from standard speakers in that they try to reproduce accurately the sound you feed them, standard speakers try to "sound good". There's a pretty big difference between the two, sounding good usually means a compressed sound with not a lot of middle frequencies. For house, you'll probably want a sub.

    Either way, a keyboard is nice to have, if you don't have any previous experience with keyboards, you might as well just get the 25 key (get it velocity sensitive especially useful for drums). M-audio have a pretty good value.

    yeah but this is why i suggested he gets a set of klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers, which are thx certified and fairly accurate (good for checking mixes).

    but for his main mixing he can use sennhesier hd280 pro headphones.

    plus bottom end in house is a major concern, and he is not going to be able to afford a good enough set of monitors thats going to hit the lows he wants. cheap monitors do not get very loud nor have much bottom end to them which is why i got the klipsch and sennhesier headphones until i can afford a good set of monitors.

    edit: plus hes obviously not insanely serious about production just yet which just further justifies my suggestion.

    This has been happening to a lot of people with the new '11 mbp's. Apparently it's the aluminum casing (from what has been said). Some people have the issue, other's dont. If you're in bootcamp I am guessing your in Windows and maybe the hardware didn't install correctly on that side.

    I don't think this will need a data plan
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875176172

    That looks good, but I did a review search and it was cited as having low audio volume. I would need that for my older mom.

    Anything else?

    Basically you are freeing memory you did not malloc/calloc.

    Actually there is a malloc, it's embedded in the memcpy.

    void *pointerGivenByInstanceFunction = memcpy(malloc(byteSizeOfElement),storage+i*byteSizeOfElement,byteSizeOfElement);

    EDIT: Sorry ignore that. It's the "read out values bis" loop that's the problem.

    Yes it's as robbieduncan says. In your one-line version, you're losing the pointer the copy of the double on the heap. Then later you try to pass the address of the copy on the stack to free, which rightly causes a crash.

    Basically you can't do this in one line. You could, though, cast directly to a double pointer and still free it, like so:

    double *pointerGivenByInstanceFunction = (double *)memcpy(malloc(byteSizeOfElement),storage+i*byteSizeOfElement,byteSizeOfElement);
    double returnElement = *pointerGivenByInstanceFunction;
    NSLog(@"%g",returnElement);
    free(pointerGivenByInstanceFunction);

    I'm in the market for a 1 gig stick for my 800mhz iBook G4 but I can't find crucial offering any for the iBook. I'm sure they have some somewhere but I want to make sure they guarantee it.

    What are the logs for ?

    The library folder is big GB :eek: :eek: :eek:

    Most applications will have a log which will record errors and other information. It would be worth clearing out to see if you can gain some space :)

    Any of the new iMacs are more than enough. If you look at the top end card they put in the MBP its the same 6750M in the low end iMac. The only difference is the low end iMac has 1/2 the VRAM.

    And that is not to put the MBPs down. The 15"ers will serve you well too. The major factors in my mind are, portability vs. extra speed, and ease of repairs. The iMacs are faster and offer more bang for the buck but if the internal HD dies its a PITA to replace yourself. OTOH the MBPs provide less value but replacing an internal drive is just a screwdriver and torxdriver away.

    I'd take a P&S if you don't have a good camera on your phone. We went to Disney World in September and used my iPhone 4 FAR more than even our Canon P&S because I could snap photos and video and immediately upload them to Facebook and email them to family that wasn't with us. They loved getting shots from us on the go and I liked not having to do that stuff later when I was exhausted.

    Also, I highly recommend taking at least one backpack to put sunscreen, water and snacks in. Disney World does allow food to be taken in now so I also recommend taking lunch some days as eating there every day is expensive.

    Have fun!

    For people that installed 4.3.3 on their iPhone 4s.....how is the upgrade? Is it better than 4.3.2? Does it help with animation stutter, lag and battery life?

    I am contemplating whether to upgrade or not as the last two upgrades messed up my perfectly fine iP4 which was running like a champ on 4.2.X.

    Ouch, I can see Steve cringing about this.

    Nice gadget, but what is up with the 'half-hat' design and the protruding metal bars from the skip?

    The hat was just folded in half so people wouldn't have to actually put it on, and could just hold it up.
