Ah....Damn....But Leopard will include iLife '07 right? I hope they also add iWork '07 as a freebie along with Leopard! I would love to start using iWork, but an imminent update is holding me back from my purchase.
No. No version of OSX has ever come with iLife for free. All new Macs purchased after the release of iLife '07 will come with it pre-installed. All new Macs after Leopard is released will come with iLife '07 and Leopard pre-installed because Leopard is going to be released a few months after iLife '07.
If you want both for free you'll have to buy a new Mac after both have been released. If you buy now you'll have (well, nobody's compelling you) to fork out for iLife '07 and Leopard, if you buy after MWSF you'll have to pay for Leopard (assuming it's not also released at MWSF, I highly doubt it) and if you buy after Leopard is released you'll get them both for free.

I love the new shuffle look. It is an excellent design.
I'm not sure how I feel about the new look. Its so.... well, TINY! Reminds me of the iPod flea. Anyone remember that?
Anyhow, stuff usually has to grow on me, I guess I'm just an old school type :)

Since when does Apple try to lower prices by making something less elegant and appealing to a wide audience? Price is no restrictor (compared to others)!!! :)
What exactly is so "elegant" about requiring the disassemble of half the computer just to change out the GPU?

Idle Processor Noise
The MacBook is victim to the high pitched noise generated by the processor, known as the 'CPU whine'
This occurs only when the CPU is idle
Disabling the second core of the processor or running a program that prevents the processors from being idle will eliminate this sound (like PhotoBooth).
This has also been observed on the MacBook Pro, as well as other Core Duo based PC laptops.
Unlike the Macbook Pro, Apple has yet to recognize this issue.

Apple seems to propose that you take a �blank� iPod and add a wheel for a standard iPod, add a keypad to make it a phone - add a joystick to make it a game machine. The overlays are identified by the computer/device and it reacts accordingly. Imagine adding a nice volume control to your iPod. The �blank� iPod can be made into a PDA, cell phone, game machine, handtop or remote control.

Presumably, this would allow third-party vendors to design their on interfaces for the iPod/MacBook- this would make an extremely versatile machine. The concept is based around adding physical/tactile controls over a touch-sensitive pad. By having such a modular system, an iPod or laptop could become even more multi-functional. The following image depicts several different modules that could be used on a laptop.

This is a misnomer. It is not glasses-free 3D. No image is protruding from the screen. Also, the Wii has done this already. It looks a lot better in that it tracks not only your head but your depth of field.

The Nintendo 3DS is based on stereoscopic so it is 3D within a certain viewing distance (adjustable, but fine with a small gaming portable with not as much processing power).
I would imagine this sort of thing requires a dual-core A5 processor/graphics?

Update doesn't work here on my Mac Pro. I get the flashing, the beep and then the progress indicator pops up for a split second, and the machine reboots without having done the update (the update window comes up again when the Mac is up and running again). Go figure. I will try a manual download instead of using software update and see if it helps.

Funny how people are still amazed Nokia is still around. Nokia sells more phones in 1 year than Apple has sold iOS devices PERIOD. Apple sues people to high-hell and back, just as Nokia is doing now. The patent market is a market for cross-licensing and screwing your competition, don't you all realize this just yet? This isn't a act of desperation for money per se, it is an act to hinder a big player. Stop polishing Apple's knob and get some sense out of what these actually lawsuits actually mean and why they are formed.
Also, Nokia is not wasting resources. There is a reason why they using in-house lawyers. They were previously paying their lawyers for doing nothing, now they are doing paying them to do something atleast. So stop with the jokes about being a waste of resources as if anything, they are getting their moneys worth from there stupid lawyers to begin with.

Obviously, there is huge demand for cheaper Macs. Cheap doesn't equal bad!
Mac minis should start at $399
iMacs should start at $899
MacBooks should start at $799
MacBook Pros should start at $1499

His budget was $250. He was able to buy a generic 2Ghz Celeron mini tower. The $250 system was fast enough for normal email and web browsing. He didn't say that the Mac Mini was "over priced" just that it was "expansive" there is a difference.
Apple simply ignores the low end and this is what most people buy.
They do really need a $399 entry level machine.

so they are shipping the Kinect with: a power cable, an usb cable and this Kinect port cable ?
why not simply ship it with power cable + usb and save on the manufacturing of an extra, special cable and designing a whole new connection port on the motherboard ? not to speak of confusion for customers
Save on cable and plug cutter. I'm all for that. I don't think it will be anymore confusing than having to plug in the sensor bar for the Wii.

The last firmware update cured my rsd and made it run really cool - everything was perfect!!!!
NOW - it's HOT again AND i have a strange "WHINE" sound - just like you!

though I don't have a MB or MBP, this is the EXACT reason why I don't upgrade the firmware if everything is already running perfect. I feel for you guys :( Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to downgrade a firmware upgrade, reason being, it's not software related it's actual hardware "software" your upgrading (I know that's not the terminalogy, but it's what makes sense in my mind. Basically the "programs" that control the hardware on the hardware itself). So don't bother installing a fresh copy of OS X or anything like that. Correct me if I'm wrong (last time I researched this was 5 years ago for my PC) I believe the only way you can reset your firmware is to send it back to the factory it originated at.
