Would doing the Apple Hardware Test help determine problems? I know for a fact that everything is seated properly, as the system has not moved for over two weeks. Stuff doesn't just move on its own (or at least, I hope :D). But, does the Apple Hardware Test also check non-Apple RAM?
The Apple Hardware Test will most certainly check non-Apple ram. There really is little difference, other than buying from Apple you have their Best Assurance that it will work with the system. If you have other memory to test, or more than one module, you could try one at a time and see of the problem persists.
As for stuff not moving on it's own, well, these are mechanical connections in an environment that goes from hot to cold. There is expansion and contraction as the state changes. Not all items change state at the same rate, so these connections can loosen up over time. Usually years though...

Check out the book "Beginning iPhone 4 Development". It's from Apress books. There is a full chapter on pickers (Chapter 7). Sounds like what you are looking for is exactly what is in that chapter.

Hey guys I'm new to this jailbreaking thing and had question and I hope one of you iPhone wizards can help me out. I was wondering if I am running on 3.1.3 firmware right now(my iPhone is currently jailbroken) if I were to update my firmware would I lose the jailbreak?? Would it unjailbreak my phone with a firmware update? I really don't want to try and re jailbreak it, will I have to or would the iPhone still remain jailbroken even if I update?? Help would be much appreciated guys!! Thank you in advance

Coolio! - *adds name to list of people who want pics*
It would also be interesting to see if the person who had it kept the HD - It is unlikely, but it could have an early development build of Mac OS X Installed - as even back then Apple had Internal Builds for Prototypes to handle all the extra I/O.

Hi all,
I have a mid-2009 15 MBP. Last year I upgraded my 500GB HDD with a 160GB SSD. Overall I love the results and believe its one of the best hardware upgrades I have made in recent years.
However, 160GB quickly becomes difficult to work with (especially with multiple VMs) so I am keen to look for another internal storage solution.
This is where OptiBay comes in. Allowing me to remove my optical drive (which I never use) and add an additional HDD.
I am keen to understand if anyone has any experience with OptiBay? Any issues or things I should know about?
My other problem is which one to buy? There are loads on eBay, but I worry about quality. So I have narrowed my search to:
MCE OptiBay (http://www.mcetech.com/optibay/) for $99 or iFixit OptiBay (http://www.ifixit.com/Apple-Parts/9-5-mm-SATA-Optical-Bay-SATA-Hard-Drive-Enclosure/IF107-080) for $59.95?
Any thoughts? I consider iFixit to be a reparable company and its cheaper, but I don't want to drop quality.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

You are the one who is clueless. LOC has ruled it LEGAL. It wasn't their opinion.
And who will Apple sue, or intimidate, as an equally clueless person posted? Answer that question oh wise one.
Donated $100. PT Barnum was right.
But geohot is using sony code to exploit their hardware which is a violation of copyright according to the DMCA. Quite another beast to deal with and completely separate from what the LOC says...

I am not fluent in Perl but I do use Python at my work. I am mainly a C++ developer. I find Python easy to use and quite powerful for the things you listed. There are many 3rd party libraries that will help with most things you need to do. A SSH client called Paramiko was VERY helpful to me for logging into servers and transferring files and running commands. This site may help get you started with Python and Paramiko's SSH library.
http://jessenoller.com/2009/02/05/ssh-programming-with-paramiko-completely-different/
As for the file and string manipulations you listed, I find just doing a google search is helpful enough.
Just make sure you get a Python debugger if you go that way. I use Eclipse with Pydev. I am sure others may suggest a better debugger. It is adequate for my needs.

Man do these icons look ugly the look "ubuntu gnome like". It seems that they're decided on the icons being greyed out now, just like they did in iTunes. Huge bummer, we're visual and it would be much easier to distinguish with color imo. Hope the developers give apple that feedback.

I'll try to explain this as best I can;
I have a web page produced in Dreamweaver made up of 6 different jpegs.
Along the top is a row of four jpegs, all next to each other which form a menu. They are are set up as rollovers so the text 'glows' when you roll over them.
Under these is a full width jpeg on which is shown an image and some accompanying copy
Under this is a final full width jpeg which acts as a footer - it has a logo on it.
Each of these images has originally been created as a layered Photoshop file. On each of the six files, the bottom layer is the same solid blue. Dreamweaver is set up to have a page background of exactly the same blue so that background colour fills the whole screen.
The problem is, that when these images are converted to jpegs, the background blue is not consistent. On the rollovers, the blue changes further when it's activated. So in essence, you can see where each jpeg finished and the next one ends.
I've tried doing a straight 'save as', and a 'save for web and devices'; nothing seems to work. At the same time, I'm trying to keep the file sizes down as much as possible, but it's just not working out.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.

of course, taking them in to a photo shop is always an option, but for alot of photos, it becomes more cost-effective to buy your own scanner. Was just wondering which was considered to have especially good color fidelity.

I have even encountered anecdotal evidence where a Hackintosh notebook will have better battery life under hacked OS X when compared to Windows.
Ive Hackintoshed a Dell 1525 (I think) in the laptop lasted for less than an hour in Windows Vista, and for around 1 hour 15 mins in Mac OS X 10.5.6. These results were consistent over ~9 months.
For a 5-6 hour lasting battery it would mean that Windows eats up an 1 hour of outlet autonomy more compared to Mac OS X.
As a side note: Ive seen an Acer Timeline, which battery took a one third battery life plunge after installing Windows 7. Reverting to Vista didnt help.

It is pretty bumpy on most of the tracks in the UK I think.
The Northern Line isn't too bad on that front. The worst line is definitely the Metropolitan, on which you sometimes find it difficult to stay in your seat it jumps around so much.

The quotes in the article don't even imply the guy said AMOLED screens are better, only that there is only 3-5% less visible difference (using some of that creative math since the actual difference he states is 20%) between the AMOLED screens and Apple's new screen.
Even then it conveniently ignores the fact that AMOLED screens are completely useless outside.
In any case it's a weak and completely ineffectual attempt at muckraking.
Samsung's new "Super" AMOLED are actually somewhat visible outside. They are an improvement in that respect. Besides that, it will have inferior color reproduction and (IMO) over-saturated colors.

I have an original Mac mini running Leopard. I sleep it every night and wake it up every weekday. It randomly wakes with this Bonjour problem (I've never seen it happen while the machine is awake).
I haven't yet determined a pattern. Note that it's not an IP address problem this is a Bonjour (or mDNS) naming error. The machine has a fixed IP address acquired via DHCP. I also have an Airport Extreme which can proxy Bonjour.
On the other hand, I have a Macbook running Snow Leopard that is slept/started much more often but has never experienced this problem. I wonder if it is an old Leopard problem which has since been solved.

Sure, in your mind it's always Apple's fault.
If you hate Apple so much why are you here?
no read what I was saying. I am not going to go with the standard MS is coping Apple crap that will be coming flying soon.
Hell Apple coping the flash game lay out more proves that the simple lay out used is kind of a standard long before Apple used it. It was shutting down the standard argument MS is coping.
BTW I would not even say Apple is really copy any one. It is just a simple layout and lets face it there are only so many ways to do that layout.
